Photo Suggestions

The church is your main subject.  Consider photographing it from all angles, front, side and back.

If the church is open, photograph the inside

The old graveyard behind the church date back to the early 1800's.  There are several Civil War veterans bury there.

One really nice shot is to walk towards the new cemetery (though the trees.  Turn around and take photo using the trees as a frame.

Driving Tips and Other Information

Old Pickens is located on the west side of Keowee Nuclear Plant.  You can see the Plant from the cemetery of the church.

As you drive down SC 183, look for the Old Pickens Presbyterian Church sign

As you drive down the driveway, take the right fork to the church.  You can walk though the woods to the new cemetery (a couple 100 yards)

Listed on the South Carolina National Heritage Corridor and the National Register of Historic Places. This church/meeting house is the only building still standing on the site where the town of Pickens Courthouse was established in 1828. Not an actual museum, but the adjacent cemetery has over 200 historic graves dating back to 1790.

No bathroom facilities available
